Do you get exhausted seeing Kinesiology clients?

Do you get exhausted seeing Kinesiology clients?

As part of my #thingsclientssay series, today I’m answering another question I’m often asked.

Do you get exhausted doing energy healing work?

It’s a good question!

Given that most people have energy level issues in general, and here I am, working with your energy flow and helping your body and mind come back into balance.

So… it makes sense to ask if the work is tiring.

The answer is… nope!

And actually, with appropriate self-care I’m often highly energised by my work, instead of tired.

You see, I don’t give my energy to others in Kinesiology sessions.

Instead I work with the unlimited universal source of energy that everyone has access to, when we learn how.

But it wasn’t always like that.

As a brand new Kinesiologist I had to work on it

In the same way you need to build stamina for exercise and figure out what works and what doesn’t, specifically for you.

Generally, someone who is new to running doesn’t do a marathon on their first attempt, right?

They might start with a walk/jog combo, slowly increasing their pace and decreasing how often they walk instead of jog.

If they do try to start with a marathon? They might end up utterly exhausted. Or unable to finish the race.

In the same way, I had to learn how to manage my energy, and how to work with other people’s without taking on their stuff.

It’s both practice and training, as well as developing an understanding of what it means to work with energy effectively

I also had to learn what I needed as support for myself before, during and after a day in the clinic, to remain energised and balanced.

Being a Kinesiologist means being detail-oriented, remaining present and focused

I need to listen to what my clients say, observe the responses of their body to muscle testing, and other physical and energetic cues. I’m also working closely with my intuitive and psychic gifts.

So yes, it’s a bit of a dance between my logical and intuitive skill sets.

But in session, I’m always, always switched on, tuned in and connected to the Divine as I work.

For me, it’s a form of active meditation. In collaboration with you.

Bonus challenge: I’m an empath

Actually, I’m a super-duper sensitive empath.

So when I first began my Kinesiology studies, I knew I’d need some training and help to figure out how to NOT feel everyone else’s stuff!

A large part of my personal practice has been learning how to shut down all the things I see, sense, feel, know and hear.

In fact, for most of my life I had no idea I was so sensitive, that I wasn’t ever just feeling my own experience of this world, but that of many people around me, too.

Life got a lot quieter and more comfortable when I learned how to shield myself from the energetic signals I had always naturally picked up. Phew!

Becoming a Kinesiologist has been the best thing for my own health and wellbeing

Not only did I use Kinesiology to heal my own health issues (and still do), but I’ve also had to learn boundaries, grounding, and how to figure out what’s mine, energy-wise.

This is what I mean when I refer to the work of energetic and spiritual hygiene. It’s something that evolves and requires ongoing maintenance.

So, how do I stay energized while I work?

Self-care is my main priority. This is something I learned the importance of when I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition.

I was determined to get better, so I didn’t have to feel unwell and downright shoddy most of the time.

So I learned what I call Radical Self-Care. One of my first thoughts is always the state of my physical and energy bodies. How do I feel? What hurts? What feels strained? Do I feel heavy or light? Is anything off?

I developed a tool kit of self-care techniques that work for me: meditation, walking, yoga, singing, snuggling with my cat, receiving Kinesiology and other healing work, spending time in nature, taking baths, eating well, getting plenty of sleep.

I do regular self-healings and receive sessions from other practitioners. This is crucial. Self-healing sessions are good for regular maintenance, and to ensure I’m balanced and not bringing my own “stuff” into a client session.

I also have a team of practitioners – my own Kinesiologist and a range of other modalities. I know that regular care is important for me, so I do it. No ifs or buts.

I have a series of rituals or protocols I use to keep my clinic space clear. I invoke the energies I want to work with and keep clear boundaries for myself and my workspace. I meditate, keep things clean, and declutter. Whatever is needed to keep myself and my clinic in good condition energetically… that’s what I do.

When I began studying Kinesiology, I did a LOT of practice. I worked with as many case study clients as I could. Practice, practice, practice. Not just the protocols and methods, but learning how to be a practitioner. I STILL practice anything new that I learn on myself.

I’ll always remember the first time I saw five clients in a single day. I totally crashed and burned that night (and had a deep sleep)!

That was all a part of my learning experience. Thanks to my challenges with autoimmunity, I already knew that I absolutely HAD to keep the focus on self-care, or I couldn’t do this work without burning out.

Why should you care about this?

Another good question! Other than of course, curiosity about what it’s like to be a Kinesiologist.

Firstly, it doesn’t matter what line of work you’re in. We all need to learn more about our energy body.

Secondly, if you’re someone who feels tired and drained a lot, or never feels like they have much energy?

That’s something you should pay attention to.

There might be physical causes impacting your energy levels and/or something energetic, too.

It’s usually a bit of both.

On the physical side, your body may be having trouble converting food into energy for various reasons. It’s always worthwhile getting yourself checked out by a GP.

On the energy side, you might be giving away your energy.

We do this when we are what I call “Over-Giving People Pleasers” (not a technical term!).

When we’re all too eager to say yes to others, but rarely put ourselves first. When we neglect our own needs.

When we choose to put up with bad behavior that makes us feel unsafe or unhappy.

There are many ways we can give our energy away.

This is something you can learn to improve, just as I had to learn. You don’t have to be a Kinesiologist to benefit from taking better care of your own energy.

True story…

Until I started having Kinesiology sessions myself, I’d never heard of the term “surrogating” in relation to taking on other people’s energy and problems.

Once I learned about this, I worked out that I’d spent a good portion of my life surrogating for other people all the time.

When I was younger, I often had people tell me they thought I was acting or not really being myself.

Turns out, that was true! I was busy “being” other people and didn’t even know it.

This is a common experience of highly sensitive people, aka empaths

It seems we naturally came into this world with less barriers between ourselves and the rest of the world.

It’s kind of like having really thin walls and no insulation or sound proofing!

Our nervous systems are turned up on high. Which is why highly sensitive people can have trouble with loud environments, strong perfumes, food sensitivities and so on.

Of course, empaths don’t often know they’re empaths

I sure didn’t. When I was 21, I had a psychic tell me: You’re an empath.

I didn’t know what that meant at the time, and actually I didn’t even ask.

I sure found out in years to come, however!

But as you can see, you can learn to manage your energy

It’s possible to learn to “roll down the shutters” and build in more effective “insulation” for yourself.

This is something I help my Kinesiology clients with.

We discuss this and other topics over in my Facebook group, Empowerment for Sensitive Peeps, too.

And, it’s also a module of my upcoming program, Being Sensitive 101. Stay tuned for that!
