Being controlling isn't the same thing as being in control

Being controlling isn’t the same thing as being in control

Whenever we feel out of control, it’s a natural response to try and correct that feeling.

After all, no one wants to feel out of control.

But the remedy to feeling out of control isn’t to become controlling in your actions and words.

Trying to control things is a sure sign that you’re actually feeling powerless

So the best way to once again feel in control?

Is to look for balance and flow. To allow whatever is happening to exist as it is.

To accept that you simply can not control the happenings of the world and other people.

And that the more you try, the more suffering you create for yourself.

All you are able to control is yourself

And look how much trouble we seem to have with that task!

Because even then, it’s not so much about learning to control ourselves as it is to offer up understanding, love and self-compassion.

And work with our struggles and concerns, instead of trying to be a strict disciplinarian (which never works for very long anyway!)

Find what helps to create balance in your life.

Do things that offer you stillness and peace.

And eventually, balance (aka being in control) will return. It might however, look like flow instead of control. 😉

Much love,
