Big Scary Life Events can suck for sure!

But they can also offer a wealth of gifts and teachings, once you move through the trauma, and follow the path back to feeling whole once more.

It’s been well over a decade since I was assaulted (by someone I’d been involved with), and found myself (not) coping with PTSD.

The state of trauma I was living with meant that I didn’t even figure out that I needed help for at least three years!

Once I did start getting help and understanding the magnitude of what’d happened, I was VERY resentful.

How dare one person change my life so significantly!

I often thought about how he was probably having a great time, enjoying his life and perhaps even doing the same thing to other women.

He’d probably just gone on with his life and didn’t think at all about the impact of what he’d done.

He was fine, while I was not! (Of course, these days I’m fully aware that he was probably not EVER fine, and possibly lived with a great deal of inner turmoil and self-loathing).

I also resented that at a time when I’d hoped to be looking for a romantic partner, I was soooo far out of that game. I didn’t trust other men. I didn’t trust myself.

I hated what my life had become for the longest time. I hated the flashbacks, the anxiety and depression, the resulting autoimmune condition that I was also diagnosed with.

But somewhere along the line, I became determined to NOT let those events rule my life

Luckily, I’d found my way to a Kinesiologist and realised this was the modality for me. Kinesiology (alongside naturopathy and practicing yoga) helped to transform my life into something else – a post-trauma life and awareness.

All of the inner work I did eventually brought me to the realisation that I was meant to change the course of my working life, too. I was meant to be a Kinesiologist!

What all of this boils down to is that I could no longer hate those experiences

Or any challenging experience that’s come along since!

Because they’ve been my greatest teachers, they’ve helped me change my life, and find my calling and purpose.
