Recently, one of my lovely clients messaged me to say they were having trouble getting out of bed.
“I’m really struggling”, they said.
Unfortunately I didn’t have an available appointment on the same day.
Until I could book them in, my advice was simple…
Stop fighting the desire to do something when your body clearly wants to be right where it is
Stay in bed. Watch Netflix. Order in food if needed.
Give way to the desire to be still and rest.
I’m well aware of the benefits of this course of action (or non-action) because I’ve prescribed it for myself before.
There can be many reasons why we need to stop: illness and stress, all the way through to spiritual awakening.
It really doesn’t matter what the reason is, if you need to stop, then stop.
It’s okay. The world won’t end if you don’t get out of bed for the day.
Our suffering comes from the argument we have with What Is
Versus what we wish was going on! If only life was XYZ instead of what’s going on right now. Then I’d be happy, we tell ourselves…
“There is a very Simple Secret to being happy. Just let go of your ‘demand’ on this moment. Any time you have a demand on the moment to give you something or remove something, there is suffering. You’re Arguing with ‘What Is’ – Your demands keep you chained to the ‘dream-state’ of the conditioned mind. The desire to ‘control’… is, ultimately, our unwillingness to just be awake.”
