The parent guilt self-care negation trap

The parent guilt self-care negation trap…

Isn’t it amazing that many of us will take better care of our home, car or garden than we do ourselves?

And of course if you have children, what wouldn’t you do for them, right?

What about you?!

We justify taking care of the car because we need it to get around.

We say taking care of our home is an investment if you’re a home owner.

We look after the garden because we want it to flourish and look and feel good.

But what about your Self? Your own wellbeing?

Many of my clients have children and often feel guilty for taking any time for themselves.

Even for a Kinesiology session or going to a meditation.

Or having some other kind of downtime of their own design.

And yet…taking care of you is an investment in your life. So that you can take care of your family, home, car and garden.

But more than that.

Taking care of you, unwinding your stressors, trauma and fear means you get to ENJOY your life a lot more.

It’s more than okay for you to take time for yourself

To spend some time alone doing something that nourishes you.

Even if for now, that something is a bloody good nap.

But please, make a deal to offer yourself at least as much care as you would anything/anyone else in your life that you look after!

It makes sense, right? Because you need looking after too.

Much love,
