How Kinesiology can help your child go to bed on time

Got a young child/children?

Let me take my hat off right now and salute you! Coz being a parent is challenging work, but then you already know that.

It’s lucky your kids are so dang cute, right? (No bias!)

I’ve three nieces and while I mostly think they’re angelic and wonderful, I’ve seen their darker side.

Of course, I love them completely but I also know how hard my sister works to keep their boundless energy flowing harmoniously as a family.

Bed time is often an issue

I hear this story from every new parent I know: friends; clients; and yoga students alike.

Kiddie bed time = tears, tantrums and/or dramas.

It seems at least for certain periods of time, getting your kids to sleep easily and quickly every night is the exception, not the rule.

Routine is good for kids, and having enough sleep is important for the whole family.

But having some kid-free downtime? Is equally important for the sanity of YOU, the parent(s).

Kinesiology can help

Recently one of my clients came to her session with a range of concerns, one of which was that for the last couple of months her 2.5 year old daughter had been resisting going to sleep until 10:30-11pm every night.

Which can be exasperating, especially when your child is also an early riser. As my client said, “I don’t always get to choose when I wake up in the morning”.

When we muscle tested for the priority issue to work with, no surprises, it was the late-night hours her daughter was keeping.

Balancing a small child

Have you ever wondered how a Kinesiology balance works when the person being balanced isn’t even in the room?

The very idea seems quite mysterious, doesn’t it?

My client’s daughter wasn’t with her, so I used a surrogate balance protocol: balancing my client’s daughter via my client.

Actually, even if her daughter had been there, I still would’ve used a surrogate balance due the age of the child.

How does a surrogate balance work?

Seems a little unusual, doesn’t it?

Remember that post where I got all poetical about water and the ocean etc? Yep.

Holistic Kinesiology is about energy balancing.

Ultimately there’s no division of energy between anything on this planet of ours, including all us humans.

Surrogate balances work when the following conditions are present:

  • Ideally the surrogator and surrogatee are the same gender, and they are in a good relationship with each other.
  • The surrogatee gives permission for the balance. Or in the case of a young child, a parent/guardian can give permission.
  • The balance is for the highest good of the surrogatee, with no intent to manipulate that person.

We make sure the surrogator is energetically willing and able to surrogate. If the surrogator needs balancing, we do that first, then set them up to act as a surrogate.

A goal for the surrogatee is written. To form the goal, I asked my client what she wanted for her daughter rather than how she wanted her daughter to behave.

The goal we used was: “I am now calm and peaceful, and ready to go to sleep around 9pm every night.”

A balance is then completed on behalf of the surrogatee. At the end we make sure the surrogate and the surrogatee are being themselves again.

In this instance, we needed to do a little extra balancing to have my client’s daughter give up “being the mum”!

Interestingly, there’d been some issues in the balance around the energy between mother and daughter being “back to front”, so part of the work we did was to re-balance things “front to back”.

The outcome?

Right after the balance I had to teach a yoga class, then went straight to the first session of a weekend-long yoga workshop I was attending.

When I checked my messages later that night, my client had sent this very simple email:

“9pm on the dot!”

I was thrilled. Just between you and me, I might’ve done a little dance. 🙂

But I was also curious whether a second balance would be required to reinforce the work we’d done. Then my client very handily provided further feedback:

“5 nights out of 5, 9pm bedtime pretty close to on the knocker!”

More people are learning about the effectiveness of Kinesiology

Even once they’ve experienced a balance for themselves, explaining to others what happened in a session can be tricky.

Add in a surrogate balance, and things can get a little “out there”.

But exciting things are possible with Kinesiology!

We can even surrogate balance your cat or dog if they’re having issues of any kind, since they have the same meridian system as humans do.

Curious about Kinesiology?

I invite you to email me or give me a call.

I’d love to have a chat and find out how we can work together!

Much love,
